Currency

The official currency of Slovenia is euro (€). Most shops accept international credit and debit cards. Slovenia has a widespread network of bank machines, where cash can be withdrawn.

Value Added Tax (VAT) refund

The city's numerous shops marked with the "Tax Free Shopping" sign make it possible for visitors from non-European Union countries to receive a VAT refund on a minimum of 50 euros worth of goods purchased in a single shop within a single day, on condition that the goods are taken outside the country within three months from the purchase date.
